As imagens enviadas no WhatsApp guardam os seus dados EXIF?

Eu acredito que a resposta completa do Whatsapp é que o Whatsapp realmente tira os dados EXIF & XMP & IPTC das imagens que são enviadas através do serviço. Fiz um teste simples ao adicionar meta dados a uma imagem usando o exiftool de Phil Harvey, que na minha experiência é uma ferramenta confiável para editar e visualizar meta dados de arquivos de imagem. Aqui está o que eu fiz:

1. Tira todos os meta dados existentes
2. Adicionar os meus próprios dados de teste>li>li>Enviar através do Whatsapp>li>Enviar imagem de volta via e-mail + método alternativo>li>Copiar imagem no Whatsapp + enviar de volta via e-mail

Pode encontrar os comandos completos que usei no final, mas pelo menos neste pequeno teste o tamanho do arquivo encolheu em 10kB, uma certa dica de perda de meta dados, e as listagens de exiftools mostraram exatamente o mesmo resultado. Por favor, note também que o arquivo muda os carimbos de tempo, também.

Então, sim, o Whatsapp devora os meta dados da imagem.
