Porque é que o Modo Seguro no Windows demora tanto tempo a arrancar?

Eu gosto das duas respostas dadas até agora, e concordo fortemente com a resposta oferecida por Kenneth Miller. Demora muito tempo para o Modo Seguro arrancar, e isso é de facto devido ao sistema ter de carregar genéricos, ao contrário dos drivers proprietários.

Acho que a minha preocupação é o que constitui exactamente "muito tempo"? Sem desrespeito, mas esse é um termo bastante subjetivo. São três minutos? 30? 300? O modo seguro leva mais tempo do que o já interminável processo de boot padrão.

A questão é, o tempo que o boot seguro leva para inicializar o sistema é um período de tempo anormalmente longo?

I thought of trying to emulate a safe boot on my Windows 10 VM (virtual machine), but then I realized that the virtual nature of the Windows OS makes comparisons very difficult between safe boots on a VM vs. safe boots on a machine running Windows 10 “on bare metal”/as the host OS.

So I can’t tell you how long a safe boot “should” take, at least not from first hand experience. I seem to recall that if a Windows 10 on a machine like mine (see below)

should take about 2–3 minutes to boot up, and a safe boot (with networking) should take about 3–5 minutes, but again, this is from memory.

So my best guess is that if the safe boot is taking more than, say, 5 minutes, you have a problem with the computer; but even that won’t tell one if the problem is hardware or software (operating system).
