Por que tan é igual a sin / cos?

A melhor resposta para esta pergunta depende das definições que você está usando para as funções trigonométricas:

Círculo unitário:

$t$ corresponde ao ponto $(x,y)$ no círculo $x^2+y^2 =1$
Definir:
$sint = y$ ,, $cos t = x$ ,, $tant = y/x$

O resultado é imediato.

ponto $(x,y)$ no lado do terminal de $t$ e $r=sqrt(x^2+y^2)$

$sint = y/r$ ,, $cos t = x/r$ ,, $tant = y/x$

$sint/cost = (y/r)/(x/r)= (y/r)*(r/x) = y/x = tan t$

Triângulo direito

$sin theta = "opposite"/"hypotenuse" = "opp"/"hyp"$

$cos theta = "adjacent"/"hypotenuse" = "adj"/"hyp"$

$sin theta = "opposite"/"adjacent" = "opp"/"adj"$

O resultado segue de:

$sin theta / cos theta = ("opp"/"hyp")/("adj"/"hyp") = ("opp"/"hyp")*("hyp"/"adj") = "opp"/"adj" = tan theta$
