What is your review of Houston, TX?

I lived in Houston for 7 years and my relationship with Houston is one of love and hate.

Reasons to love Houston:

• People are friendly
• Cost of living is low
• Lots of jobs opportunities
• Lots of school choices
• Many universities
• Food is amazing and cheap
• Many events to attend
• Museums, opera, ballet, theaters, drama clubs, tons of libraries
• Very diverse
• Restaurants from all over the world- you choose what cuisine you want to try and Houston has it.(for real!)
• 1.5h drive from the beach (not a pretty beach, but that’s all we got)
• Intercontinental airport in town
• Amazing medical center

Now my reasons to hate Houston:

• Long commutes (everything is spread out)
• Traffic is HORRIBLE
• Very limited public transportation
• Too much road constuction going on
• This town has become super crowded
• Allergies - This town has outrageous pollen levels. Nearly everyone seems to suffer from allergies here
• Too many ghettos
• Lots of gang activities
• High crime
• People drive badly
• Weather is so hot and humid most of the year
• Winter does not exist(which could be a positive for some people, but I like winter)
• One of the highest car insurance rates in the country
• it floods
• Everyone moving here complains about gaining weight! -Food is great and weather too hot, so people basically go out to the mall and restaurants most of the year
• You HAVE to have AC in your car and in your house. You cannot make it without it. Nem tente!<

Estes são os comentários que ouço muito das pessoas que conheci em Houston. Depende também se você mora na cidade ou nos subúrbios e de quanto você tem que viajar. Se você mora no Loop (muito $), você pode realmente amar Houston porque seu trajeto será mínimo.

Tráfego, trajeto, e tempo são as coisas que as pessoas reclamam diariamente. Isto é o que me incomoda ao ponto de me mudar. Mas eu conheço pessoas que acham que vale a pena aguentar. Tudo depende do tipo de pessoa que você é - se você gosta da vida na cidade isto pode não ser tão ruim depois de tudo.
